As opposed to a punch or rifle smack attack, your melee attack uses a metal cutter that your wrist pops out of. The aiming system of Republic Commando allows you to lock on to your targets while attacking them, so there is no such weakness. The controls in modern FPS games tend to be very good, especially after playing them. In addition, a lot of the buttons felt cheap and made it hard to be precise.
